In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda Prologue achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Toyota C-HR has not been tested.

The Honda Prologue comes with a standard Surround Vision System with a rear camera washer to provide all-weather visibility, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Toyota C-HR doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Prologue has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Rear Cross Traffic Braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Only the C-HR XSE offers Parking Support Brake.

Both the Prologue and the C-HR have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Honda Prologue weighs 566 to 951 pounds more than the Toyota C-HR. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Honda vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda above average in initial quality. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is rated below average.

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the C-HR (255/60R19 vs. 235/60R18). The Prologue Elite’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the C-HR (275/45R21 vs. 235/60R18).

The Prologue Elite’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the C-HR XSE’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Prologue has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the C-HR SE. The Prologue Elite’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the C-HR XSE.

The Honda Prologue’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Toyota C-HR only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Prologue has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The C-HR doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The C-HR doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

VLEEV-OHEZE 2a06:98c0:3600::103 2026/05/13

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 13.5 inches longer than on the C-HR (121.8 inches vs. 108.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 2.9 inches wider in the rear than on the C-HR.

For greater off-road capability the Prologue has a greater minimum ground clearance than the C-HR (8.1 vs. 8 inches), allowing the Prologue to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Prologue. The C-HR doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Prologue Touring/Elite’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The C-HR doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Prologue Elite has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The C-HR doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Prologue’s standard Push Button Start and Smart Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Smart Key System standard on the C-HR doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Prologue’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The C-HR’s power window (except driver window) and power lock switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Prologue has a standard rear wiper. The C-HR doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Prologue Touring/Elite’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The C-HR has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Prologue Elite keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The C-HR doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Honda Prologue has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Homelink® is only available on the C-HR XSE.

The Prologue Elite has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The C-HR doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
